Do you make resolutions? Let's Reflect on 2020, Together!

Happy New Year! We know every person on this earth was ready for 2020 to finally be over! This article isn't meant to pressure you to make resolutions, but we want to encourage you to be thoughtful and intentional as we step out of an unprecedented year and into a new one.

This is a chance to celebrate what we accomplished in the year, what we failed at, and how we learn from it moving forward in 2021. Despite all of the hardships of last year we learned a lot about what we value and what we’re capable of making it through. Hopefully, we're becoming better and more capable versions of ourselves as we learn and grow through the years. I think “New Year, new you” carries a negative message, so let’s shift that to “New Year, better you”. We aren’t wiping the slate clean, but are presented with an opportunity to better ourselves this coming year. In the spirit of reflecting and celebrating wins for 2020, we’d like to share our own!

Reflecting on 2020

We began the year with our live Home Buying 101 course in February and ultimately had to pivot to an online course in March. (If you want to hear more in detail about what that specifically looked like for us, you can go back and listen to our Pivoting with Covid-19 episode.) Our Home Buying 101 is still available on demand at dallashomebuying101.com. You'll see us in our separate homes teaching you the first steps that you need to know about buying a home and that was a way that we could use our time when we couldn't go into homes physically.

That was just the tip of the iceberg as far as shifting things to a virtual setting goes. We had planned to launch and record the podcast side by side, but ultimately recorded in our separate homes. From there we embraced “live” video and operating via Zoom meetings and we are still taking on clients through those means. Of course when we do meet in person, it’s masked, which is exemplified by our ever growing mask collections!

We really learned how to take a pause between all of the hustle and celebrate ourselves. It’s so easy to go, go, go, and get burnt out, so we highly recommend you do the same! As far as our personal lives go, both of us put energy into revamping our outdoor spaces and truly revelled in all of the quality family time. These things brought us so much joy last year and really put in perspective what’s important and how we want to prioritize family time in 2021.

Looking at 2021: Home Buying & Business Goals

Let’s start with home buying! The housing market in 2021 is going to be just as speedy so buckle up! The turnaround time was unbelievable last year and we anticipate 2021 to have a similar housing market landscape. What started off pretty rocky and uncertain turned out to be an absolutely incredible year for real estate. This past year we really had to learn speed to market when getting listings up, because as fast as you could get your house on the market, it was pretty much selling as soon as that was happening. Rates remaining low and houses selling high! As you can imagine that will leave us pretty busy!

We love what we do and want to make sure we can get more time face to face with people, so a big goal for 2021 is to expand our team! A lot of back end work goes into running our business between market, accountant, human resources, and all of the back end functions that are pivotal to providing the best services for our clients. We are without a doubt going to be hiring very soon, so we are sharing that first with you, as our trusted and loyal audience. Pease, if you know somebody that you trust and think would be a great fit share their info with us. We will be quickly getting down to the nitty gritty and figuring that out. Along with revamping our team we have plans to revamp our office and website! Big and exciting things are on the horizon for this year.
