How to Add a Pop of Color WITHOUT Paint!

Castillo Group Paint Makeover.jpg

Giving a room (or your whole home) a makeover can seem like a daunting task. If you’re like most people, a new color scheme can be an exciting idea and often, painting or adding colorful wallpaper is the first thing we look to. If you’re renting or not too home-improvement-savvy, that’s probably not the route to go. Using accessories to make a colorful design shift in your home can be an appealing way to add flair to your space.

Adding a pop of color with home accents can be easy and effective. It’s like when you want to go out on the town and you add that little bit of lipstick or a spritz of your favorite cologne. It’s subtle, simple, yet gives you those extra confidence boosts the second you walk out the door. You can apply the same trick to your home decor. Let’s take you room-by-room and teach you how to colorfully accessorize your home without touching a paintbrush!

First, step into the room and visualize the colors that represent that room. It could be the same ‘theme’ around the house or a certain feel that is specific to each area. Should this room have patterns? Solids? Is the theme beachy? Ethereal? We love heading to Pinterest to find the perfect #homeinspo to spark that next idea.

The Living Room

If you’re like us, the living room is the busiest home in the house. It’s where your friends stop in and where the family gathers. The best way to add color here is with colorful pillows, an accented coffee table, or a large canvas to make sure it doesn’t get lost in the mess. It may even help distract your guests from the craziness happening on the floor with the kids running around!

The Kitchen

A colorful bouquet or oversized rug is the key to dressing your kitchen for success! Not only will the flowers catch the eye of any passerby, but the large mat can also cover up any floor tiles or hardwood that you’re aren’t the biggest fan of. Plus, it will be comfy on your toes when you slump down the stairs for your morning coffee.

The Bathroom

The bathroom might be the easiest room to add a pop of color in. Think of your shower curtain as an enormous piece of art. Choose one that you LOVE and then choose accessories that compliment it. Accessories may include a soap dish, bathroom mats, wall art, and more! Try adding press-on wallpaper to accent a wall too!

The Bedroom

Your bed should steal the show in your bedroom. Finding blankets, quilts, duvets, etc… can help liven up your space. A cute lamp for your bedside table or a framed body mirror can also add that perfect touch to the room. Our favorite way? Finding eclectic, cute, trinkets and to place on floating shelves!

Who knew adding little pops of color in your space could be so simple and fun! We love utilizing these ideas in our own homes as a great, non-permanent way to help us feel a little brighter!
